ABOUT
ME

The path I have walked

I have long held the belief that a person can always find meaning regardless of the time or situation. There have been many times in my life where I have struggled, but I have found that in those times what has kept me going is the meaning I find in life. For me that meaning is found in the various relationships in my life. People matter to me!

My road to get here was a long and winding one, filled with uncertainty and a lack of direction. Life was just happening to me, and I didn't feel like I had any control over where I was going. What I had to do was take the reins in my hands and begin to go down the road I wanted. If I can, I will help you feel more in control of your life as well!

I also drive my practice in a specific direction in order to work with those who I feel are underserved in the mental health community. Those populations being men, rural communities, and first responders. These populations all face unique challenges and are often forgotten by the mental health community. There are certain stereotypes around men in therapy and we know men are far less likely to seek therapy. Growing up as a man I can empathize with many of the struggles we face as men in this society, which I believe can lead to deeper understanding of issues men or boys may be coming in with. I also grew up in a rural community and know many of the stigmas associated with mental health in these areas. Rural communities are unique and there are many things that aren't understood unless you come from a community like that. Lastly, I come from a line of first responders. Growing up in a family like mine I have seen the toll that a job like that can take. It is HEAVY and over time it can really weigh a person down. Mental health for first responders cannot be overlooked.

Oh and yes, I LOVE Star Wars. Try and sneak a quote into sessions without me noticing. I don't think you could!
